Slowly but surely, the year is coming to an end. We’ve decided against new year’s resolutions this time around, since we know we won’t be able to keep them going past the end of the month anyway. So instead, we’ve thought up a bucket list for 2022 that’s packed with all the best sightseeing destinations and day trips in Tyrol. After all, it’s never a burden to commit to something if it’s fun to do!
Here are 12 experiences that you definitely shouldn’t pass up during an active holiday in Tyrol.
We’ll check off the first item on our list soon enough. In January, we can look forward to experiencing one of the oldest Tyrolean sports. Every Tuesday evening, the curling rink near the Congress Centre hosts an Austrian-style curling tournament. So, wrap up warm in your cosiest hat and scarf: bundled up like this, the other team won’t be able to freeze us out – no matter the final score.
A new month, a new adventure: in February, you can ski our trails by moonlight as well as daylight. Spend some time on the night-time trail in Seefeld. A three-kilometre cross-country trail between Seefeld and Mösern is wonderful in the moonlight, stars sparkling overhead as you happily glide along the snowy path. The entire trail is also lit by spotlights, so there’s no danger of getting lost. Ready to push off?
If you were to ask us what our favourite month is here in Seefeld, March would be at the top of the list. The ski slopes are still covered in deep snow and in top shape, but a good amount of sunshine also pampers us with a preview of the early days of spring warmth. What more could you ask for? That’s why our March to-do list has to include a sunny day of skiing at Gschwandtkopf. Good thing this ski area is only a two-minute drive away from NIDUM; it’ll be easy to cross this one off our list more than once!
April is an unpredictable month. So, we’re taking some time off! But if you think we’re just going to sit around doing nothing, you’re in for a surprise. Though the doors of our hotel may remain closed to visitors, behind them we’re hard at work planning and scheming. Soon we’ll be digging, excavating and building for you to get the new natural swimming pond ready in time for the start of the season. And what’s on your bucket list this month? Lean back and relax ... and make sure to book the ultimate holiday deal!
When the rays of the sun are extending ever closer towards the valley, we know the moment has come. Our first guests will be arriving before long, so it’s time to warm things up for you here – and that includes the natural swimming pond. In total stillness and serenity, its waters glisten as it awaits the very first swimmers. Will you also be one of the first to dive in?
In June, we’ll leave the warming-up to our football stars – at least that’s the plan! Several times already, teams like the DFB or ÖFB have given us the honour of choosing NIDUM as their training base camp. We hope that they’ll be gearing up for big games in Seefeld once again and feel as comfortable as they did last year. As for the rest of you – get ready, because our reopening is right around the corner!
Finally, the first holiday guests are rolling in! Even in July, we’ll already have our hands full with things to do. Together with our hiking guide Walter, we'll climb one of our favourite peaks, Gschwandtkopf, and snap a high-altitude selfie. At this spot, you can enjoy a magnificent panoramic view of the Wetterstein and Karwendel mountains all the way to the Tux glacier. And it goes without saying that we’ll stop off for a bite to eat on the way back.
In August, we’ll be taking on something more mysterious: the Leutascher Geisterklamm (‘ghost gorge’). The atmosphere is particularly unearthly in the twilight, so we’ll be setting out on the Klammgeiststeig and Koboldpfad paths in the early morning or at nightfall. Ghostly fields of fog, dark grottos, frigid winds or even a soft whisper from the rocks – what do you think will await us?
In September, we’ll return to the place where it all started: we’ll be following the Isar river all the way to its source. But don’t worry, the trip will be a breeze because we’ll be taking e-bikes. Bavaria’s fourth-largest river begins near Scharnitz in the Karwendel Mountains, and spends some time speaking Tyrolean through its first 22 kilometres. It only takes three days for a drop in this river to complete its European journey through ten countries and finally into the Black Sea.
The next point on our bucket list is sure to be a hole in one: a round of golf in the golden autumn sun. At the Seefeld-Wildmoos golf club – certified as one of the leading golf courses in Austria. If you happen to also have a ‘hole in one’ on your list, you should know that NIDUM guests will receive favourable green fees and preferred tee times.
It’s only a 25-minute drive away, yet we find ourselves visiting this beautiful alpine town far too seldom. Innsbruck is THE must-see destination in Tyrol. Therefore, in November we will take time for an extensive shopping trip around the ‘Golden Roof’, as it’s known, and discover all its corners that are still unknown to us.
We’ve ticked off eleven points by now; only one more to go. When the silent winter nights settle over the snow-covered meadows and forests, the Inn valley deep below Mösern sparkles like a giant crystal. How could we close out 2022 more perfectly than with a night hike in flickering torchlight?
